Modern Elgin Watch Repair
Repairing a modern, battery-powered "Elgin" watch

The Elgin National Watch Company
The Elgin National Watch Company, shown in the old postcard above, went out of business in 1964. The modern, battery-powered quartz watch wasn't invented until the 1970's, so the Elgin National Watch Company never produced any battery-powered quartz watches!

Service for Modern Battery-Powered "Elgin" Watches
Since the Elgin Watch Company went out of business in 1964, the "Elgin" watch you bought at Wal-Mart last Christmas was definitely NOT made by the original Elgin Watch Company!
Modern, battery-powered watches that bear the Elgin name are Elgin-branded watches only, they have absolutely nothing to do with the original Elgin watch company other than the fact that the "Elgin" name appears on the dial. The modern "Elgin" watches we've inspected contained inexpensive, foreign-made quartz movements (usually made in Japan).
We do not repair modern, battery-powered "Elgin" watches. We specialize in the repair of vintage mechanical (wind-up) watches made by the original Elgin Watch Company. According to the latest information we have been able to find, the Elgin brand-name is currently owned by the M. Z. Berger Company. We recommend that you contact them about the repair of your modern battery-powered "Elgin" watch.
